Shang-Kai Hung

Shang-Kai Hung, MD, an SHP master's student, is an emergency medicine physician at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. He earned his medical degree from China Medical University, Taiwan, and has also worked with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders).

His clinical interests center on health disparities among vulnerable populations and the risks that new technologies can pose to marginalized groups when implementation overlooks their needs. His published work includes studies on health disparities among emergency department patients with severe mental illness, as well as on the effects of new emergency risk-stratification tools.

His current work explores emergency medicine, clinical AI, and health system design, with a focus on how evidence-based decision tools and evaluation frameworks can be responsibly deployed at the point of care to close equity gaps and improve outcomes for vulnerable patients. Through this work, he aims to help translate promising clinical innovations into practices that are safe, equitable, and sustainable for real-world emergency care.
