Biography

Mauricio Lopez-Mendez, PhD, MPP,  focuses on developing and applying decision models to assess the value, cost-effectiveness, and affordability of policies and health technologies impacting aging populations. His primary work involves quantifying the preferences of dyads composed of people with dementia and their caregivers and creating frameworks for integrating these preferences of dyads into decision-making. He also evaluates the economic impact of non-pharmacological interventions that help people with dementia stay in their homes longer and models the epidemiological and socio-economic processes affecting their care experience. Mauricio earned his PhD in health services research from Brown University and a master’s in public policy analysis from the University of Chicago.
