Biography

Dr Thomas is a resident in urologic surgery at the University of Toronto, currently pursuing her PhD in Health Policy (Decision Sciences) at Stanford University as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar.

She is chiefly passionate about developing evidence & policy to support investment in safe, timely and affordable surgical care in low- and middle- income countries. Specifically, she is interested in using data to address critical infrastructure and policy gaps affecting patients with urologic disease. These include, but are not limited to, understanding global urologic disease burdens, building urology workforce capacity, and strengthening systems-level processes for safe urologic and surgical care.

In Dr Thomas' spare time, she is driven by mentoring and supporting other women to pursue urology. She actively curates initiatives for women to access opportunities in this specialty, by serving on the Board of Directors for the Society of Women in Urology both in the US and Canada.
