Research Interests

His research interests include health policy and health economics. His ultimate career goal is to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system in Japan with enhanced financial sustainability, and improvement in the quality of care.


Satoshi Maruyama is a Master’s student in Health Services Research and Policy at Stanford University. He has also served as a government official in the Japanese government since April 2009. He was in charge of policy planning of medical services fee-schedule revision, atomic-bomb survivors supporting policy, and health policy planning at Japan Self Force Defense since then. He has done his internal medicine training at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, Japan. He received his MD and MPH from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
