I completed my undergraduate studies in Literature and Biopsychology with honors at the University of California, San Diego, my medical degree at Georgetown University, internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University, fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Yale University, and my Master of Science degree in Health Services Research at Stanford University.
I have a fantastic research team and we love working together :) My lab uses mathematical modeling, decision analysis, prognostic modeling, multivariate logistic regression, cost-effectiveness analysis, and meta-analysis to examine:
1. Pandemic Influenza. We collaborate with colleagues in the Center for Health Policy / Center for Primary Care and Outcomes Research (CHP-PCOR) and Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford, the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to examine and design pandemic influenza mitigation strategies.
2. Happiness as a Mediator of Health. We study the health effects of daily practices that individuals can perform without a healthcare practitioner to decrease stress and promote happiness in their lives. Our current projects include studies of daily meditation and mindfulness practice.
