Bio

James Barnes is a VA Health Services Research and Development fellow. His research interests are in cost-effectiveness analysis and the effect of physician workload on patient outcomes, and general applications of mathematical modeling to clinical medicine.

Dr. Barnes graduated with a BS in bioengineering from Rice University in 2006, and an MS in Management Science and Engineering with a concentration in decision and risk analysis from Stanford in 2007. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2008-2012 and completed residency in internal medicine at Stanford in 2015. Clinically, he is interested in inpatient and outpatient general internal medicine.
